Monday Musings: As Time Goes By

Yesterday was our anniversary. Forty years. Wow, looking at it there in print, it seems like such a long time. Thinking about it, it seems like it can’t be that long. But, you know, the math don’t lie.

It was a very lovely day, if a little bit on the humid side, so we went to Central Mass Gardens. We bought some more plants for some of the containers I haven’t planted yet. I also got a small bay laurel. I’ve always wanted one. I’ve had good luck keeping my hibiscus alive indoors over the winter, and I hope I can do the same with the bay.

They have a great gift shop there with all sorts of things not only for the garden, but decorative accents you can use anywhere. I got this wee dragon to add to my collection.

Isn’t he cute?

Another thing we’ve wanted to add to the deck is a birdbath. We have feeders and get lots of birds, so I wanted to give them some water, too. We were looking at these really nice glass ones with flower, butterfly, and hummingbird patterns, and then we found this one. I knew that was the one I wanted.

Gorgeous, isn’t it?

We came home and the BaldMan made beef in barolo for dinner. We’ve had a bottle of pricey barolo aging for a number of years. It was a 2001, so it’s seventeen years old. We picked up a (relatively speaking) cheaper bottle on Saturday, and that’s what he used for the recipe. I opened the aged bottle for dinner. It was good, both the dinner and the wine.

It was just a nice, relaxing day.

Now, it’s back to work on Two’s Company, the space opera sci-fi that I’m in the process of revising. I got the new bits written last week to tie some parts together, and can go back to editing type revising now. I think there may be one more short bit of writing to do, but I am hoping to be done with this revision by the end of May. The plan right now is to have it out in December, but that could be changed depending on how the rest of the revision and beta reads go. More info on this one will be coming soon!

On we go!

  1. Congratulations! Wishing you many more years of marital harmony. And, yes, that’s an adorable dragon.

I really like the amount of texture that design gives the birdbath. I’m looking for one myself, but most of the designs I’m seeing are too slick for the birds to get good purchase for their feet. Yours looks lovely and practical too.
