This will be brief because I am going to try to avoid spoilers for the many who have yet to see it. It was thoroughly enjoyable. Maybe a bit plot thin in spots, but there is enough character, action, humor, and, yes, sadness to keep the movie from dragging. It draws on all of the Spider-Man franchise that came before, and leaves the door wide open to the future. Holland is probably my favorite Spider-Man, but even the (IMO) worst of them (Toby McGuire, I’m looking at you) added context and rounded the Spiderverse well. There was plenty of action, much of it, in the best Marvel fashion, on grand scales. Benedict Cumberbatch is, as always, quite dashing as Dr. Strange, but with just a hint of eyebrow-waggling humor. The supporting cast is spot on, and there are plenty of nods to the rest of the MCU sprinkled in. I laughed, I cried, I was on the edge of my seat more than once.
Go see it. It was that good.

I want to see it but our neighboring theater upgraded (recliners, better food) and tickets now run $15-20 even for matinees. That’s the price point at which they lose me so Netflix will have to do.

The one here does have the recliners but just standard movie theater food, not the fancy stuff you get in some of them. Matinee prices are under $10 and I qualify for senior rates, so still reasonable. In MA, a lot of the movie houses were doing those upgrades that also “upgraded” the prices. They would have lost me at those prices, too.

Back in Florida I lived in a big retirement area so I’d qualify for senior discounts. Here it’s a couple of years off.
