Evie Addams and her daughter, Lilianna, are living a quiet life in small-town Eden Valley. Evie is a single mother with three best friends as her support system. But things are about to get strange when Evie starts to manifest a bit of supernatural shoplifting, Lily tries to summon a demon to grant her birthday wishes, and Evie’s old flame (who just happens to be a demon) turns up in town. And then there’s the hellhole that suddenly opened up in town. As Lily’s tenth birthday approaches, Evie is faced with trying to deal with her unusual ability, helping Lili deal with her demon heritage, and figuring out just where or even if Luc still fits in their lives.
This was a fun read. It’s light and reads quickly with some interesting ideas, although some of them could use some fleshing out. The characters are likable (or unlikable) enough even if some could have used a bit more development. The romance angle was okay, but a bit forced seeming at times. There is a big aura of mystery about the town of Eden Valley and it’s mysterious lake but I suppose that might feature more as the series goes on.
I don’t really expect a lot of deep meaning and cleverness in a lighter paranormal romance like this, and this book fit right in with what I thought it would be. I enjoyed reading it, even if romance isn’t my usual go-to genre. There are flaws, but I could overlook them while reading and they didn’t take away from the story while reading. People who are looking for a light, fun, romance with paranormal overtones should enjoy it.

My latest book is a collection of very short stories, half science fiction and half fantasy, called “Crossed Wires and Other Very Short Stories”. I have also written a few other short pieces, another collection, two novels, and an urban fantasy series. You can find most of them at Smashwords, Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Kobo, and wherever e-books are sold. A few are also available from Amazon in paperback. My novel, “Circle Unbroken” is also on Kindle Unlimited, if that’s your reading preference. You can find out about all of them here.
There are also some stories you can read here on my site, mostly the yearly Halloween short I write, but there are a few others. You can read them from here
