Halloween is this week. Tuesday, to be exact about it. We don’t go all out for Halloween as far as decorating goes, though I would like to add some to what we have. Of course, I say that every year, and don’t! Anyway, we will be here awaiting all the little ghosts and ghoulies and Taylor Swifties on Tuesday evening. We get a fair number of trick-or-treaters here, so it’s worth being ready.
Yes, there should be a new Halloween story this year. It’s almost finished, and I know where it’s going, so it just needs getting the words written. This year, it’s a short story in the Yo-Yo Files world, and the title is “At Your Service”. It’s a ghost story. I’ll put out the link here and on my socials, as usual.
As is the usual when autumn rolls around, weekends here are football (American style) here. Although this season, I don’t even want to talk about it. Both my teams are abysmal. It’s tough to watch. Enough about that…
We did hit three local breweries on Thursday. Endless Brewing in Montrose, PA, Crooked Mouth Brewing here in Vestal, and we ended at Water Street Brewing in Binghamton, where we had dinner. Endless only had a couple beers on tap, but their amber ale was decent. Crooked Mouth, where we have been before, had a really nice chocolate and vanilla stout, and Water Street had a really yummy Key Lime Sour. I didn’t order it as part of my flight since I am usually not fond of sours, but the BaldMan did and when I tasted it, I was sorry. They mentioned the graham cracker crust in the description and you could really smell and taste it! It was more sweet than sour, and really, really good! I was sorry they didn’t offer smaller than 16 oz. glasses, because I would have had a short one after dinner.
It was a beautiful day on Thursday, and Endless Brewing is out in the middle of nowhere, but it was a really pretty drive. The GPS took us along mostly back roads so there were farms and hills all around. It was nice.
Saturday, we went to the Mesmerica 360 show at the planetarium in Corning, NY. I really enjoyed it. It was a 45 minute guided meditation, really, with mostly music as the guiding sound. There were some voice parts, but the main show was the music and lights. Very enjoyable.
It was a busy week, but it was busy with a lot of fun things, so that made it a nice one overall. A bit quieter this week, but I guess that’s not a bad thing after some busyness, is it?
Drink your water. Eat a vegetable. Get outside and refresh. Be nice to one another.
