I don’t have much in the way of holiday spirit this year. Lots of reasons for it which I won’t bore you with. I have almost no decorating done. I got the candles in the windows and a bow on the door, but that’s it. We don’t even have a tree. And I find I don’t really care. I feel like I have become stagnant, and I’m not sure how to unstick myself.
Creativity is at a standstill. I seem to have forgotten how to plot a story, so the little I have written lately just sort of meanders. This happens, then that, then another thing, but there’s no purpose or direction. Kind of like the rest of my world right now. I’m in hamster-on-a-wheel mode- running full tilt all the time, and getting nowhere fast.
But, it’s Christmas week. We’ve hit the Solstice. Hanukkah is approaching, along with other winter holidays. (Side note: I find it interesting how many traditions have celebrations of one sort or another at this time of year.) It’s a time of celebrating, and I do hope you all have something to look forward to, whatever your holiday is. Be well. Be happy. If you live in the colder winter climes, get out there and feel the chill in the air. Enjoy the days of sun and snow and biting cold- they can invigorate. Spend time with your favorite people, whoever they are. Smile. Laugh. Eat the dessert, too. The New Year approaches, faster than perhaps we’d like. Refresh, renew, remake if need be. Stop and take a breath. We all need that, I think.
Happy Holidays!
My latest book is a collection of very short stories, half science fiction and half fantasy, called “Crossed Wires and Other Very Short Stories”. I have also written a few other short pieces, another collection, two novels, and an urban fantasy series. You can find most of them at Smashwords, Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Kobo, and wherever e-books are sold. A few are also available from Amazon in paperback. My novel, “Circle Unbroken” is also on Kindle Unlimited, if that’s your reading preference. You can find out about all of them here.
There are also some stories you can read here on my site, mostly the yearly Halloween short I write, but there are a few others. You can read them from here
