Announcement Number One:

Something very strange is happening in Carroll Fork. When an unusual number of low-order demons start showing up in town, demon-chasers Johnny and Cerise start taking notice. And when Cerise, who sees the daemonflash that marks the presence of a demon, discovers that the demons are being sold to the townspeople in clothing and other items from the local thrift store, they head to the small, quiet town to investigate. Almost nothing at Miss Lucy’s Emporium is as it seems, including the sweet, elderly proprietor. It’s a devil of a spot to be in, and Johnny needs every skill he has to clean things up in Carroll Fork. Including some help from a local waitress, a bit of heavenly intervention, and a yo-yo.

“Five and Daemon” is a novelette length urban fantasy with elements of humor and the supernatural. It was originally serialized on this blog over the course of a year from March 2015 to January 2016. I’ve compiled it into a single volume, and published it on Smashwords as an e-book. Along with the original story, you will get a preview of the next story featuring Johnny, Cerise, and that yo-yo, “The Devil Made Me Do It.” It is also FREE. Yes, I said FREE, and it will always be free. If you read along with the serial and enjoyed it, please feel free to download the full e-book. And if you are not a fan of serialized stories and didn’t follow along, here’s your chance to read it in complete form. If you know someone who might be interested in urban fantasy with some humor, do let them know about this one, also. And, as always, if you read and enjoy, a review on Smashwords and/or Goodreads, or wherever you downloaded the book is appreciated. Many thanks!

Here’s the link to download the book from Smashwords:

Five and Daemon

It should be available at Barnes and Noble, Apple, and other e-book retailers within the next week, also free. It is not available on Amazon, sorry.

Announcement Number Two:

I am planning on starting a newsletter. I know- you get too many emails as it is, right? Well, here’s the thing: I want to keep in touch with you- the folks who read my blog and look at my new books (maybe even read them!). I promise, if you subscribe to the newsletter, I will not spam your inbox with the same information day after day. I will only put out a newsletter when there is, well, news. Once a month, at most, unless something REALLY exciting happens that I can’t wait to tell you about.

So, what’s it going to offer that this blog and my social media doesn’t? Well, you will get first news of new books and stories, first looks at covers, previews of upcoming works, and some of it will be exclusive to the newsletter. I will also share some backstories about my writings. For example, the January premiere issue has the origin story of “Five and Daemon” in it. There may even be contests or games, if I come up with a good idea.

Sound like something you’d like to try? Great! Just drop an email to me at:

makropp@gmail.com

and put Newsletter in the subject line. You can add a message saying you’d like to subscribe, if you wish. Comments are always welcome. That is my real email, and I will try to respond as quickly as I can. Thank you and look for your first newsletter after the New Year! Till then, I hope you enjoy the upcoming holidays, whatever you celebrate.
