Tuesday Thoughts: Well, That Was a Weekend

Yes, yes, it was. I spent most of it in the car, driving back and forth between home and the hospital. On Friday, the BaldMan was admitted with a cellulitis infection in his left leg. This is not a new thing. He’s had them before, and was in hospital with the first one back a few years. Once you’ve had one, you are susceptible to them recurring.

The fun part is that they all started differently. This time, he came home from work on Tuesday with a fever, but no other symptoms. The fever persisted on Wednesday, but broke overnight. Thursday was off and on, and by Friday morning, the leg was swollen and reddening. He went to the doctor, who sent him to the hospital.

The good thing (if there is one about these infections) is that they were able to culture this one and get the right antibiotic rather than just throwing everything at it. And it was a bug that responds to methicillin antibiotics. Another good thing- it was not a resistant strain.

He came home today, with oral antibiotics and a few more meds because he was showing some a fibrillation while there. That may be related to the infection, so he is to follow up with both his doctor and a cardiologist and, with a little luck, he can get off those.

So, I’ve been busy the last few days, and not paying attention in here. Things should be back to normal or at least close now. There may or may not be a review on Friday. Didn’t get much reading done, either.

I hope your weekend was less interesting!
