January, Week 2

Hey, guess what? As I am typing this on Sunday, the sun is actually out! That’s a big, and welcome, change from the last while, where all we have had is clouds and rain. I hope it sticks around for a while.

I have spent the week slowly, and I do mean slooowwwlllly, taking down the Christmas decorations. I still have a bit to do, but we are getting back to non-holiday décor around here. The tree went first because, well, it was dead, Jim. The rest is being packed up, box by box.

Gym workouts are ramping up now that I’ve been going for a few months. I do find I am more muscle tired after a session. Mostly doesn’t last more than that one day, so that is the good thing. And there has been some (little bit of) weight loss and a couple inches off my waist. Not that you’d notice right now with all the inches left to go! One thing I have noticed and am very glad about is that my knees don’t bother me as much as they used to. Which also means that I have been able to walk longer and at a faster pace than I have for a long, long time. Yeah, the changes in weather still affect them, but not much can be done for the arthritis in there. I am just glad that strengthening the support around the knees is doing some good.

We started using Hello Fresh for some meals every week. With the BaldMan starting to feel the fatigue from the radiation treatments (prostate cancer. Treatments going well.), he likes that he can still cook dinner but without a lot of fuss and work. So far, the meals we’ve had have been tasty and they sure are convenient. Doesn’t take long at all to get dinner ready. We are using them four-five times a week, and doing our own thing the other days. We’ll have to see how things go once we’ve been using them for a bit longer, but so far, I don’t think we are spending much more on the weekly meal budget than before. This is only our second week with Hello Fresh, so yeah, need more data to make a real judgement.

Otherwise, it was a quiet week of getting back into the normal rhythms after the holidays. And this coming week looks much the same. I hope yours is a good one!
