Yeah, we hit that magic time of the year when we head into Daylight Saving Time. Or as I like to think of it, jet lag for the non-traveling.
Here’s a short but interesting article on DST and how it got started. (Hint: It may not be what you think.) Daylight Saving Time
I say it’s time to end the nonsense. It really doesn’t serve any purpose now, other than to leave everyone tired and confused for a few days. You know, like jet lag. I don’t even care which version of time we pick, DST or not, just pick one and stick to it year round.
Ok, enough ranting for now.
Lambeau did get his staples out last Wednesday, the e-collar came off, and he is free to enjoy his life out of the pen again. He was confused for a day or so, though. I took the pen down and put the dog bed back in the main part of the living room and put his crate back up in the corner. He would still sleep in the crate during the day, and when I let them out in the yard, he’d go off the porch onto the sidewalk, then turn and wait for me. But he was used to being confined to that corner and me having him on leash in the yard for three weeks, so not surprising. He’s gotten back to his normal routine now. He lays next to me on sofa and sleeps in the dog bed. And he and Tucker have been running and playing in the yard again. It’s good to see.
The weather has turned chilly again over the last few days, and we’ve had more rain. It’s snowing very lightly as I type this on Sunday afternoon. We are forecast to have rain and 40 degrees the next few days, then we get 60s again. It would be nice to see the weather settle down a bit.
I signed up to volunteer at the Humane Society where we got Tucker. I am going to a dog walking class this week. I know- at first it sounds kind of odd. You need a class to walk a dog? Well, yes, in this environment, you do. Because of the shelter situation, with multiple dogs of varying temperaments, there do need to be procedures followed for the safety and well-being of everyone. Anyway, I think it will be fun, it will get me out and moving around a bit more, and it might help a dog with socialization and training so that he/she will get adopted quickly.
Otherwise, it’s business as usual here this week. Drink your water. Eat a vegetable. Get outside and refresh. Be nice to one another.
My latest book is a collection of very short stories, half science fiction and half fantasy, called “Crossed Wires and Other Very Short Stories”. I have also written a few other short pieces, another collection, two novels, and an urban fantasy series. You can find most of them at Smashwords, Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Kobo, and wherever e-books are sold. A few are also available from Amazon in paperback. My novel, “Circle Unbroken” is also on Kindle Unlimited, if that’s your reading preference. You can find out about all of them here.
There are also some stories you can read here on my site, mostly the yearly Halloween short I write, but there are a few others. You can read them from here
