Move Over, Marie Kondo! I Have Stuff to Put There!

Have you caught up to the Marie Kondo craze? She of the de-cluttering, stuff tossing, excruciatingly annoying voice? If not, just Google her name. You will find more than you ever wanted to know- or hear. I mean, look, I get it. We all probably have too much stuff, but her voice just makes me want to build a fortress of stuff just to block out the sound!

Besides, whose to say that what doesn’t give me joy today, might not tomorrow? I mean, I may say that fluorescent pink flamingo statue that Aunt Petunia gave me gives me no joy today, but that’s because Aunt Petunia told cousin Jenny that my new hairdo looks like a rat built a nest on my head. When she shows up at my door tomorrow with her famous pecan praline cookie truffles, I guarantee you, that flamingo will be the joy of my entire existence.

But don’t take my word for it. Here’s Chuck Wendig with his own series (sort of. Or maybe it’s just a blog post. Don’t judge.) with his defense of stuff. Read. Contemplate. Absorb. Understand. Then go out and get more books, pink flamingos, and skeletons!
