Monday Musings: Quiet Times

Last week was pretty unremarkable. No hospital trips, no one was sick, nothing out of the ordinary. I have to admit that it was kind of nice.

We did our usual shopping and running about on Saturday. On Sunday, we took a trip to a local garden center. It is a large one, with several greenhouses, a big outdoor area with, well, plants. They have the usual trees, shrubs, and other things to plant in your yard. They also have a good selection of statuary and other decorative things. On top of all that, there is a good sized gift shop with decorative things, planters, and bric-a-brac of all sorts. I wanted to go there because I was looking for a couple new things to add to the front. I also just like walking around the place. They have so many plantings both in ground and in planters and you can get some really good ideas.

We picked up a weathered brass finished pinwheel and a stacked stone sculpture for out front. I got a cute little green frog for my houseplant table, and an arrowhead plant (Syngonium podophyllum) to add the the houseplants. I also got the cute little guy in the picture above to add to my dragon/griffin collection. He’s adorable, isn’t he?

We stopped at a little clam shack type of place for a couple lobster rolls on the way home. I walked the dog, and just chilled for a while. The BaldMan grilled some chicken and made a salsa verde to go with it, along with a kale and arugula salad made with greens from our garden.

All in all, it was a good Sunday.
