I have mentioned the I have been working on the third installment of the Yo-Yo Files, my urban fantasy series. Well, I have decided on a release date for it: January 20, 2020. Wow, that’s a lot of 20s!
The title is The Demon’s in the Details. This one is going to be a bit longer than the other two. It’s going to be a novella. It’s also going to center more on Cerise and her half-demon origins. There will be some new friends and foes, a new yo-yo trick or two, a trip to the Pacific Northwest, and Bigfoot. Yes, I said Bigfoot. Fun stuff.
Here’s the current blurb (though this will probably change as I get the chance to work on it a bit more:
When Cerise learns her human mother has died, she decides her demon father should be told. Without telling Johnny what she plans, Cerise summons the demon, who doesn’t care about Cerise or her mother. He only wants to be free again. Without Johnny’s skill, Cerise can’t control the demon and he escapes. To track him down, Johnny and Cerise travel to the Pacific Northwest, the home ground of the escaped demon. It’s also where Cerise grew up and the home of Johnny’s mentor, Quinnell. When Cerise’s father takes sudden interest in his daughter, Johnny and Quinnell know he’s up to something, and whatever it is isn’t going to be good for Cerise or the peaceful forest the demon is roaming in. Add a Bigfoot-hunting photographer, tribes of indigenous creatures that have hidden in the forest for centuries and a few other demonic visitors, and things get complicated quickly. Johnny will need to teach his old yo-yo a few new tricks to untangle Daddy Demon’s plot and rescue Cerise before the demon takes up permanent residence in our world.

Johnny and his partner, Cerise, are demon hunters. When something from the otherrealms is set loose on our (mostly) unsuspecting world, these are the two to call. Johnny has a particularly good sixth sense for demons, and keeps an eye on the weird and unexplainable happenings in the world at large. And Cerise, the daughter of a demon father and a human mother, can see daemonflash, the aura that surrounds an invisible demon.
When the demons rush in, so does Johnny. Armed with his trusty silver yo-yo, he’s there to keep us all safe and make sure the bad things are sent back where they belong.
I’ll be posting teasers of the story and a cover reveal as we get closer to January. I have had fun with this one and I hope you enjoy it, too!
