Did August seem like a month that both slid by at breakneck speed and crawled so slowly it seemed to be moving backward at times? It sure did to me. And here it is September. The year is winding down, and I can’t say that I will miss 2020 when the calendar finally turns over in January.
So, I did take August off from blogging regularly, and I was less present on most social media, as well. Not that I am a constant poster anywhere, but I stepped back from most of it. I did keep up the Friday Reviews here, and I have to say that taking some time off helped get my reading habit back on track, as well as letting me catch up on a few other things.
So, what did I do on my summer vacation? (Hahaha) I made a few decisions about how I am going to spend my time going forward. I started a new time management process, which seems to be working pretty well, so far. I am still tweaking and working to massage it to something that works for me, but it’s helping me stay on track a bit more. I read a lot more. I got some stuff done around the house and worked on the gardens. I did a few of the things I kept telling myself I should get to “soon”.
What didn’t I do? A lot of writing. I was having some serious issues getting anything written for a bit before I took the time off, and just letting myself not write if it didn’t feel right was- a good thing? Don’t get me wrong. I still think “butt in chair and do it” is the only way to get anything done, but like any other job, I do believe there are times when you just need a vacation from the constant drive to do, do, do. And here’s the thing- now that I have allowed myself to not write for a while, I find that, once again, I want to. That wanting was the thing that was missing. Sometimes, you just have to step away from something to reset and recharge, you know?
Anyway, I am back here again, as well as back to working on my other writing. I don’t know if I will be running three posts a week from now on, but I do know the Friday Reviews will continue, and I will probably be doing at least one more post on whatever rolls out of my brain.
Vacation was fun. But, as usual, it’s good to be back.
