Monday Musings: Spring Has Sprung

Or at least I hope it has. It’s supposed to be warm all week. I have been out doing some clean up and prep work in the garden boxes. I got the tomato and cucumber boxes moved back to their growing spots, moved the hops buckets out where they will get more sun to warm them up, and put the greenhouse cover on the 2×8 bed. The soil there is starting to warm, and I think I should be able to plant cool weather greens by the end of the week. The seeds in the basement are sprouting, and more will get started soon. I am planning to make a run to Home Depot this week to pick up some supplies. It’s garden time!

We have a vacation planned! A real, honest-to-goodness vacation! We have rented a house in Vermont for a week in June. We will be joined by the BaldMan’s parents, and his sister and her husband. By that time, everyone should be fully vaccinated, so it will be okay for our small group to get together. Let me tell you, I am looking forward to this. We have been (rightly so and I was fully in favor of it, of course) stuck here for a year now, and it will be really nice to get away for a while. We also have at least one cook off on the schedule for the summer now. Definitely hoping the rest will follow suit soon. Of course, a lot of that depends on their local towns and what they do as far as limiting crowds and outdoor events. If vaccinating stays on target, things should start getting better. Fingers crossed.

I do hope this nice weather stays with us. I am really ready for Spring! With that, I will leave you with this little amusement my Dad used to give us every Spring:

Spring has sprung/The grass is riz/I wonder where/The birdies is? (Hint: the birdies is at my feeders on the deck! :D)

===============================================================

I have a new story up here on the site. “Leaving Well Enough Alone” is set in the world of my urban fantasy series, The Yo-Yo Files. It is set in the town in Massachusetts where I live, and involves an old inn, a ghost, and a local urban legend. It’s free to read here on my site.

Want something new to add to your 2021 reading lists? Might I suggest one of my books? I have written science fiction, fantasy, and urban fantasy stories. There are novels, novellas, and shorter pieces to fit everyone’s reading time. There are even some free stories, both here on the site and in other places. You can go here to find out more about the books I have published. They are available on Amazon, Smashwords, and most ebook retailers. Thank You!
