This one is one that the BaldMan got me for Christmas. It's The Annotated Brothers Grimm: The Bicentennial Edition. It's just as pretty inside as out. There are full page color illustrations, illuminated lettering, margin drawings both in color, and black and white. It's lovely. These photos are the dust jacket, book cover, and spine. … Continue reading Another Pretty Book
Just popping by quickly on this Christmas Eve to wish everyone a happy holiday season, whatever you celebrate. And if you don't celebrate anything in particular, a wish for a peaceful and fun weekend. I'll be back around after the New Year with more of whatever it is I do here. Until then-
As kids, we used to help Mom bake cookies every Christmas. We baked a few different kinds, but the cut out sugar cookies were always a favorite. Mom would mix up a huge batch of the dough, and it would sit in a big pot out on the cold back porch. We'd scoop out a … Continue reading Baking Cookies
Really not much to report here. Last week was quiet, and this week is pretty much the same. I did go for my annual mammogram today. Which is why this post is late getting put up. The morning was used up doing normal Monday things, and I had the appointment at lunchtime. Nothing unusual but … Continue reading A Week of, Well, Not Much
For those of us in the US, this past Thursday was Thanksgiving which, for many, marks the beginning of the winter holiday season. It's also been a bit of a controversial holiday lately for some, but I choose to think of it more as a day for family and gratitude. The actual history of the … Continue reading And So It Begins

Music is a lifelong love and with all the COVID shutdowns and tour cancelations that past couple … Continue reading We Went To A Live Concert Yesterday!
Another week is in the books. Seems like they are speeding by now that we are approaching the last months of the year. The holidays are right around the corner. Thanksgiving is next week here in the US, and that is the official start to the Christmas season, although Christmas has been evident in stores … Continue reading This, That, and the Other Things
My rating: 4 of 5 starsThis is the second book in the Witcher series by Sapkowski, and once again, it is a collection of short stories. The longer novels begin with the next book in the series. There are six stories in this one, and like many collections, some are better than others. They draw … Continue reading Friday Review: Sword of Destiny (Witcher #2) by Andrzej Sapkowski
Sorry for the lack of post last Monday. The only excuse I have is that it was the start of NaNoWriMo and I didn't want to get behind on week one. As of the end of the week, I was about 39 words ahead of my personal schedule, so I was happy. No, 39 words … Continue reading And Just Like That, It’s November!
Last night, I let the dog out for his last-of-the-night potty breaks. It was raining a bit, so I waited on the porch. He ran out into the yard and made a beeline for the fence at the top of the driveway. He was sniffing away at something and it was his "Ooh-I-found-something" and not … Continue reading Playing ‘Possum- For Realz
